Faith

faith

/fāTH/

Noun
  1. Complete trust or confidence in someone or something.
  2. Strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.

I believe to my VERY core that Faith = Jesus. If you leave Jesus out of it, you've got nothing.

Without Jesus I would be nothing, going nowhere but down quickly. My past is filled to the brim with bad decisions, sad stories, crazy - can hardly believe it is true realities. Thank God I came from a family that knew and loved Jesus. Somehow in the midst of all my chaos and storms God managed to draw me back into the security and comfort of His arms, over & over again. In fact He is still doing it.

Now that I am a GROWN-UP, (that almost made me laugh out loud) I am almost daily reminded of how much I am in need of a Savior. I think the closer I grow to Him the more I realize my desperate need for Him. The more I know Him, the more I am in LOVE with Him. The more time I spend with Him the more I realize He really does LOVE & ADORE me despite my chaotic frailty.

I am learning I can trust him completely, with everything; my husband & children, my finances, my future & my fears. I look back at the last 15 years of my life and I am almost in complete disbelief of where God has taken me. He has reached down to  pull me up out of a pit and placed me on solid ground...then held my hand leading me around the earth.

It started with the cutest little boy in the world who lived in the Philippines: ADOPTION. Next would be mission trips in Africa. Who knows where will ask us to trust him next. It could be in our own neighborhood or anywhere else in the world. One thing I am sure of:

Following Jesus is a journey full of surprises.

Our Family Verse: (given to us in Africa)

17 The LORD your God is with you,
   the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you;
   in his love he will no longer rebuke you,

   but will rejoice over you with singing.”

18 “I will remove from you
   all who mourn over the loss of your appointed festivals,
   which is a burden and reproach for you.
19 At that time I will deal
   with all who oppressed you.
I will rescue the lame;
   I will gather the exiles.
I will give them praise and hono
   in every land where they have suffered shame.
20 At that time I will gather you;
   at that time I will bring you home
I will give you honor and praise
   among all the peoples of the earth
when I restore your fortunes[a]
   before your very eyes,”
            says the LORD.

                    -Zephaniah 3:17-20NIV

My Personal Cling to:

Psalm 91

 1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
   will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.[a]
2 I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
   my God, in whom I trust.” 3 Surely he will save you
   from the fowler’s snare
   and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
   and under his wings you will find refuge;
   his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
   nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
   nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
   ten thousand at your right hand,
   but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes
   and see the punishment of the wicked.
 9 If you say, “The LORD is my refuge,”
   and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
   no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
   to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
   so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
   you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
 14 “Because he[b] loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him;
   I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
   I will be with him in trouble,
   I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
   and show him my salvation.
